Eurovision Logo refreshed...

Behind the scenes: The revamped logoAs the Eurovision Song Contest is heading for its 60th anniversary in 2015, the EBU is presenting a revamped version of the logo. The evolution comes 10 years after the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) launched a generic logo for the competition, back in 2004.

Behind the scenes: The revamped logo''When we started this process, we conducted extensive research into the current logo, to highlight its strengths and weaknesses. It was clear to us at a very early stage that this was going to be an evolution, not a revolution, representing the evolution the contest has seen over the past decade. The heart, the combination between the friendly handwritten 'Eurovision' word mark and a more contemporary sub-title - they had to stay. They reflect the 'modern classic' the Eurovision Song Contest essentially is. Also, the logo had some challenges; it's grungy edges, odd details and loss of detail when shown in small dimensions, particularly the city and year designation. Every character of the handwritten word mark was carefully crafted from scratch. The more smooth lines make this logo much more pleasant to look at on HD television, but also in print. For the underscores we chose the Gotham font, which has a strong, timeless look and provides a subtle reference to the EBU's corporate identity. The heart, as symbol of bringing people together, was given particular attention. By popping out the right side of the heart, it leaves a stronger impression, also as iconic stand-alone element.'', EBU supervisor said, describing the story behind.

Eurovision Song Contest 2015 logo.svgLet's begin with a summary of what we know so far.
The Eurovision Song Contest 2015 will be the 60th annual Eurovision Song Contest. The contest will take place in Austria, following Conchita Wurst's victory in the 2014 contest in Copenhagen, with the song "Rise Like a Phoenix". During the winner's press conference, an Österreichischer Rundfunk (ORF) representative stated that the host city could be Vienna, although official confirmation on the host city and venue have yet to be announced, with Graz and Innsbruck being the other two contenders for hosting the contest. It was announced during the meeting of the Head of Delegations in 2014 that the dates for the two semi-finals are 12 May and 14 May 2015, with the final planned for the evening of 16 May 2015. Those dates were then changed. The semi-finals will be held on 19 and 21 May 2015 and the final on 23 May. This will be the second time Austria is hosting the contest, the first time being in 1967. During a follow-up meeting between the host broadcaster ORF and the EBU, the representatives of the core organising team were selected. Edgar Böhm, who is the Head of Entertainment at ORF, was announced as being the executive producer.

So far, twenty-two countries have confirmed their participation on the contest, with Cyprus returning after a one-year break.
